From the heart of Himalaya and for the people of Himalaya and beyond.

We nourish the vast knowledge of this incredible mountain areas and combine it with skills essential in the world outside of Himalayan region.

Our purpose is to enhance knowledge sharing between the Himalayan mountain region and the rest of the world to learn from each other for the better of everyone.

Region

Tawang and West Kameng districts in the western fringe of Arunachal Pradesh in India was from 500 B.C to 600 A.D, part of Monyul Kingdom.

This is a backward and tribal area, bordering Bhutan on the east and China in the north.

The area is mostly resided by Buddhist minorities.

Because of this unique position, the Monyul area remained until recently, quite isolated, but self-contained.

Kunphen School

Established in Morshing Village in the Kalaktang circle of the West Kameng and Tawang districts in 2006.

The main objective of the School is to provide education to tribal Buddhist minorities in these secluded areas.

We work towards imparting education in the field of Buddhist Philosophy, Literature and Language, Meditation, Traditional Handicrafts and Fine Art.

We combine our Himalayan education curriculum with the Western Science curriculum. The medium of instruction are Bhoti, Hindi and English.

Our 8 year program enables children of Buddhist minorities to complete primary and middle education, making them ready to enter high school or vocational school, if they wish so.

Our main objectives

1. To offer opportunity to learn to those that are the most unprivileged and downtrodden

2. To offer education to novice monks with a solid grounding in their tradition cultural heritage

3. To inculcate awareness for ecological balance and preservation of natural resources and cultural heritage.
